We decided to include a built-in barbeque when we had our pool and spa built a little over one year ago. I did a little research and Viking had a great reputation, so I decided, what the heck, go for the 53″, top of the line. Well, apparently Viking is getting by on their reputation alone. The quality control on a $4000.00 grill was absolutely horrible. The handle to lift the grill cover was loose on one end. It felt like it was going to come off. I tried to tighten it, but could not get to the bolt. The lower left hand corner of the cover was badly out of alignment. Lighting the burners presented another challenge. Sometimes they would ignite immediately, other times not at all. They would not light manually, even with a match. I would shut the gas off, wait 5 minutes and then they might ignite. Maybe. I finally called a Viking authorized service center and had a repair person come to the house. He did a great job. Tightened everything, adjusted the burners to light every time. He agreed that Viking was no longer producing the quality items they have been known for. I can not recommend this grill. There are too many excellent grills on the market to waste $4000.00 on a unit so fraught with problems.
