It was time. I’d been using barbecues that cost less than $200 for the last 30 years. Replacing burners and/or grills at least every other year and I was getting tired of it. You see, I barbecue at least 5 days a week for 8 months of the year and I just burn these lower cost models up. So I went looking, determined to spend what it took to get top of the line. You know, stainless steal, heavy duty burners, the works. I ended up getting the Weber Summit 450 and boy am I pleased. It heats up rapidly and it gives legitimacy to the phrase "even heat". I’ve got control over my cooking like never before. And the grill, it’s made of 3/8" welded stainless rods. I get grill marks that restaurants would be jealous of.

I just smoked a turkey on the grill for Thanksgiving. This was a 16 lb. bird and it took about 4 hours. It was the most incredible turkey I’ve ever eaten.

As for the seasonal cleanup, this barbecue’s a snap. Without any screwdrivers or wrenches, all of the burners can be removed so that you can get in and easily clean the insides. I’ve had a Weber Summit for 2 years now and I still haven’t had to replace anything. There are no signs of rusting nuts or any other hardware for that matter.

My only complaint is that it is difficult to restock the smoker if you have both grills in place. I get around this by removing one of the grills and only using one side when I smoke anything.
