My wife and kids got me the One Touch Gold for my birthday. I have owned my share of charcoal grills over the years, including a few Weber copycats, and always found something I didn’t like. That’s not the case with the Weber Kettle.

Everything about the Weber makes it easy to use. From the elevated charcoal grate, to the adjustable top and bottom air vents (for temperature control), to the integrated ash can, this one is a winner all the way. I use it for everything from searing perfect chicken and steaks, to slow cooking ribs, to smoking pork shoulder.

A couple of words about the accessories. I bought the charcoal baskets, which hold the lit coals at the sides for indirect cooking. They work great. I also purchased the lid holder and utensil holder. They don’t work as well. The utensil holder is always falling off. Do yourself a favor and buy or build a work table instead. As far as the lid holder goes, it actually does a good job of holding the lid, but it prevents the lid from closing properly. A friend has the Platinum version with an integrated lid holder, which works much better. I wish it was still available, or that Weber would use that configuration with the Gold model.

All in all, this is the best charcoal grill I’ve ever used. I’m so satisfied that when we build our outdoor kitchen, I’m going to spend the extra bucks for the Summit Gold Built-in Gas Grill. If the Weber gas grills are as foolproof as the charcoal grills, I’ll have the best of both worlds.
