It’s an attractive grill - much better than previous versions by Weber. Quality construction - even the box it comes in is well thought out.

While I’ve owned Weber charcoal kettles before, I never wanted to pay the “premium” for a Weber gas grill. After 8 years with a mid-line gas grill that used cast iron as the grate that holds the ceramic briquets and procelain covered cast iron cooking grates, and cast iron burners by another manufacturer, I was ready to rid myself of all that cast iron. That grill took 15 to 20 minutes to reach 400 degrees and did not distribute heat evenly. It also had a warning not to exceed 500 degrees. With the cost to renew the parts, it was time to get a new grill instead.

I started comparing grills that had long life components - namely either brass or stainless steel. Started at Lowes/Home Depot. Went to BBQs Galore then Design Expo (the upscale arm of Home Depot - where I saw the new summit line for the first time). It compared favorably to the grills I had seen at HD/Lowes but I wasn’t sure it was worth the premium in cost over those models. Went back to BBQs Galore to check out their models and I was told that to get comparable quality and features, I would have to pay twice as much and they pointed me to a grill in their premium line that was over $2400. When I asked about their $900 grill, he basically said it looked good but didn’t have the quality and longevity of the Weber. So they showed me it was worth the extra over the HD/Lowes grills.

Found a store on the internet that was having a sale and got it for a great price - $1299.

Easy to assemble because about the only things you have to do is put the side tables in place. The basic until comes assembled from the factory. It has a great ignition system similar to my furnace - pilot light ignited by turning handle and that ignites the burner. Each burner has this feature (except the outboard burner).

Cooked hamburgers in different areas of the grill to test evenness of heat distribution. Good evenness of heat. Cooked a beef brisket to test smoker box and low heat cooking. Had to work a little bit to get the temp low. Smoker box works very well. Haven’t tested rotisserie yet.

Grill heats very quickly. 500 degrees in 5 minutes. I’m impressed with the heavy duty cooking grill and other components.

Weakness? I can’t tell when the burner has caught fire - it’s difficult to see under daylight conditions.
